چکیده

Abstract Tungsten inert gas can be used to weld stainless steel due its offering sound weld, narrow fusion zone, precise control weld’s shape and over penetration, spatter free, slagless, stable arc low electrode wear. The goal of this study was offer the best process parameters for improving mechanical characteristics joint. experimental analysis approach applied in work, experiment carried out on 304L using L16. selected welding were travel speed, current welding, flow rate, length, root gap. Rockwell hardness, tensile strength, bending strength tests examined properties Based grey based Taguchi method, optimal level-settings rate gas, gap obtained 2.7 mm s −1 , 160 A, 14 l min 3 mm, 1 respectively. result ANOVA showed that has greatest impact it followed by speed joint quality with percentage contribution 80.77%, 10.86%, 5.98%, According confirmation results, average relational grade 0.863 which found between confidence interval 0.800 1.082 95% level, maximum 101.38 HRB, 1425.8 MPa 1648.6 MPa,

Welding of 304L Stainless Steel with Activated Tungsten Inert Gas Process (A-TIG)

Gas tungsten arc welding is a popular process in those applications requiring a high degree of quality and accuracy. However, this process has a big disadvantage against the substantially high productivity welding procedures. Hence, many efforts have been made to improve its productivity. One of these efforts is the use of activating flux (A-TIG welding). In this study, the performance of A-TIG...

Optimization of Weld Bead Width in Tungsten Inert Gas Welding of Austenitic Stainless Steel Alloy

This paper investigates the effects of process parameters on weld bead width of austenitic stainless steel SS-310 in tungsten inert gas welding. The four parameters namely welding current, type of gas, gas flow rate and included angle of weld plates during butt joint were varied at three levels. The DOE approach was used to design experimental conditions. Orthogonal array L9 was used for carryi...

Structure-property Interaction in Flux Assisted Tungsten Inert Gas Welding of Austenitic Stainless Steel

Austenitic stainless steel SS304 grade was welded with active Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding process by applying a flux paste made of SiO2 powder and acetone. SiO2 flux application improves the weld bead depth with a simultaneous reduction in weld bead width. The improvement in penetration results from arc constriction and reversal of Marangoni convection. Experimental studies revealed that t...
